Creative Director and Owner of Belcastro Hair in Sydney’s Northmead, Michael Belcastro has been a passionate and inspiring hairdresser for over 25 years, curating a reputation for delivering simply elegant hair, defined by his signature for detail.


Tremendously respected throughout the industry, this charismatic creative has established a brand that is a true reflection of its mandate; innovation and perfection in all areas of hairdressing.


Over his career, Michael has honed his skills to become an expert in cutting with both classic and creative techniques, cultivating an extensive knowledge base in understanding all cutting methods and terminology. Intent on sharing his expertise with the industry, Michael has been able to instigate a new movement and mindset in hair, through his bespoke education business, B.Educated Michael Belcastro.

Delivering inspiring and customized in-salon education to motivate and empower every individual and ensure each team member’s needs are met and exceeded – both professional and personally – has been a driving force for this dynamic individual.


Recognising that each student absorbs information differently, Michael educates in a relaxed, yet creative environment, via three main cognitive learning styles: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. This approach ensures his delivery is understood by all students and contributes to encouraging his own team and students to look beyond what is in front of them, daring them to imaging what could be.


A national winner of the Face of Lakme competition, AHIA educator of the year finalist and achieving several high commendations through L’Oréal Colour Trophy and Intercoiffure,  Michael’s creative and editorial work has also graced the pages of Marie Claire, Culture, In Style, Report and AHJ. His creative skills & expertise have also been sought after for various red carpet events and fashion weeks/shows, at the helm as Hair Director for Australian Fashion Design Festival, Trelise Cooper and the band Enspire. His skills have also been showcased across film clips and television, most notably Australia’s Next Top Model 3
